Character: Charlene Agnes “Jitterbug” Samuelson
Jitterbug was given her sobriquet due to her nervous, shrinking disposition. Born in Yates County, New York, she committed patricide when she was ten after years of abuse. Jitterbug was subsequently committed to Grover Secure Psychiatric Institute. Her whole life was spent waiting for someone to care for and take care of her. Then Birdie walked into Grover and did just that. She no longer had to think about her past because, with Birdie, Jitterbug felt she’d been born again.
